Alvina Mary Kaiser was born December 7, 1917, in rural Stutsman County, North Dakota, the daughter of Joseph P. and Sophia (Bautch) Kaiser.  She attended school in Ashland Township and then at St. John’s Academy in Jamestown. In the 1980s, she proudly received her GED and was asked to speak at the GED assembly.  On November 22, 1937, Alvina married Raymond A. Klose at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fried, North Dakota.  Over the years, they made their home at two farms in Fried Township, until moving into Buchanan, North Dakota, in 1958.  For several years, Alvina assisted as a cook in the Buchanan Public School cafeteria.  From the mid-1960s until her retirement in 1979, she also worked at the Tempo store in Jamestown.   Starting in the 1980s, she provided support to teachers at the Buchanan Public School, where she enjoyed years of being around grade school kids and was known as “Miss Elly.” Alvina made her home in Buchanan for many years, until she moved to Jamestown in 2007.  Alvina was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Buchanan for many years, as well as a member of their Altar and Rosary Society.  Faith, family, playing cards and the Minnesota Twins were her loves.  Nothing pleased her more than to spend time with her immediate and extended family at various reunions and visits. Alvina is survived by her four children: Richard (Gayle), Laurel, Montana; Jeanie, Denver, Colorado; Elaine (Gail), Bismarck; and David (Lisa), Kansas City, Missouri.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren: April, Rick, Mike, Ken, Julie, Jeff, Matthew & Katie; 19 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews and other relatives.  She was preceded in death by brothers, Alex and Louis and husband, Ray.
