(NewsDakota.com)- The Jimmie basketball teams were both in action over the holiday weekend, the men hit the road to Havre, MT for a pair of games with Montana St. Northern and the women went to Dickinson to play twice.

The Jimmie men lost a pair of one-possession games to Northern, who is ranked No. 23 in the preseason NAIA DI poll. Friday night, the Northern Lights got a 58-56 win and came back the next night to win 68-66.

Mark Hoge had opportunities to win the game on both nights but couldn’t quite get his attempts to drop. Hoge, the junior from Crosby, MN, led JC in the final game with 23 after putting up 14 on Friday.

The Jimmies are now 5-5. They will host Trinity Bible on Tuesday and William Penn on Friday.

For the second straight year the Jimmie women went west to Dickinson for the Sam Milanovich Classic and won twice. They took down Dickinson State 62-50 on Friday and then beat Rocky Mountain 80-65 on Saturday.

The No. 11 Jimmies are now 8-1 after a big weekend from AII Player of the Week Morgan Mathison. During the week, the junior from Dilworth, MN had 32 points in three Jamestown College wins including 13 on Friday.

The women will also play Trinity on Tuesday and then will be off until December 8th when they will rematch with Dickinson St.
