M. Johnson, age 75, of Valley City, ND, died Tuesday, November 13th at the Sanford Health Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 17th at Grace Free Lutheran Church in Valley City with Reverend Steve Mundfrom officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Lerud Schuldt Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday afternoon. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery near Valley City.

Janice Marion Nordahl, the daughter of Ben and Dorothy (Elliot) Nordahl, was born August 13, 1937 in Aneta, ND. Janice moved at a young age with her family to the Litchville, ND area. Janice was baptized and confirmed while living in Litchville. Her family later moved to Wimbledon, ND where her family owned and operated a café. On June 20, 1956 she was united in marriage to Howard Leroy Johnson in Valley City. The couple made their home in Valley City where she raised her five children and worked at the Super 8 Motel as the head of housekeeping. Janice also worked at the VFW club in Valley City for many years. Janice enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking for her family and canning from her garden in the fall. One of Janice’s most favorite pass times was fishing and camping with her children and grandchildren. Janice was a wonderful mother, grandmother and caregiver for those who fell ill in her family. Her great-grandchildren called her GG. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Janice was a member member of Grace Free Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Am Vets Ladies Auxiliary and the Valley City Eagles Club.

Janice is survived by her four children, Rick Johnson, Fargo, ND, Robbin (Dwight) Kiefert, Valley City, ND, Lori (Steve) Cypers, Jamestown, ND and Holly (Larry) Phillips, El Dorado, KS; 10 Grandchildren, Kimberly Warcken, Kristine Brouse, Curtis Johnson, Cheryl Bonham, Melissa Ternes, Heather DeLoss, Mara Peterson, Hillary Phillips, Dylan Phillips and James Phillips; nine Great-grandchildren, Olivia and Adrian Warcken, Lillian, Madison and Trenton Kiefert, Kelsey Ternes, Sean and Ryan Johnson and Jason Bonham; two sisters, Ellen (Fred) Christopher, Kerns, UT, Viola (John) Schneider, Devils Lake, ND.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Larry, one grandson Matthew Kiefert, and two sisters, Ida and Elva.
