— Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has presented the 2012 Commissioner’s Dairy Producers Award for Excellence to Corne and Conny Van Bedaf of Carrington.
The Van Bedafs received their award Tuesday, November 13th in Mandan, during the 2012 North Dakota Dairy Convention, sponsored by the North Dakota Milk Producers Association.
“The Van Bedafs have an exceptional record of compliance with state and federal dairy laws and regulations for somatic cell counts, bacteria counts and overall quality standards,” said Wayne Carlson, North Dakota Department of Agriculture livestock development division director, who represented Goehring. “Their farm has an outstanding inspection record.”
Originally from the Netherlands, the Van Bedafs moved first to Canada in 2001 and then to North Dakota, where they built a new dairy in 2008-2009. They are currently milking 960 head of cattle, selling their milk to Associated Milk Producers Inc. (AMPI) for the Cass-Clay plant in Fargo.
