“Bus” Didier, age 95 of Valley City, ND died Sunday November 11, 2012 at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City surrounded by his family. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Wednesday November 14, 2012 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Valley City with Msgr Dennis Skonseng celebrant. Visitation will begin at 4 PM Tuesday at St. Catherine’s with a Rosary recited at 6:30 PM and a Prayer Service beginning at 7 PM. Visitation will continue at the church 1 hour prior to services. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at Sanborn, ND at 1 PM Wednesday.
Bus was born March 28, 1917 on the family farm in Anderson Township, Barnes County, ND the son of Katherine (Stroh) and Harry Sr. Didier. He graduated from Eckelson High School and then worked on the family farm. On September 6, 1937 he married Agnes Blake at Sacred heart Church in Sanborn. The couple moved to St. Paul, MN where they lived and worked at various places, including the Arms Plant during WW II. Bus received a Presidential Citation for his contribution towards the war effort. In 1946 they moved to Leal, ND and resided there until 1968 when they moved to Eckelson, ND. He retired in 1978 and they moved to Valley City in 1994. From 1978 until 1998 the couple spent their winters in Mesa, AZ.
Bus is survived by five sons: James, Valley City, ND, Leonard (Bonnie), Alexandria, MN, Michael (Sally), Valley City, ND, Thomas (Julie), North Platte, NE, and Edward (Deborah), Valley City, ND; 2 daughters Karen (Tony) Rausch, Great Falls, MY and Mary (Robert) McGough, Hopewell, VA; 2 sisters and 2 brothers; a sister-in-law, 25 grandchildren, 41 greatgrandchildren, and 2 greatgreatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Agnes, a daughter Sr. Maureen Dolores SMP, a grandson Fr. Darin Didier, and 5 brothers. An online register is available at www.lerudschuldt.com
