N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown chapter of WomenHeart, the national coalition for women with heart disease, is holding the inaugural Heart Redneck Triathlon next February.

The event is intended to bring awareness to heart disease, which is the leading cause of death in the United States.

The triathlon, which will feature bowling, darts and pool, is set for Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at the Buffalo Lanes in Jamestown. Registration begins at noon and the event begins at 1 p.m.

It is a team event for three people, and the cost is $45 per team or $20 per person.

Pre-registration is available with Casey at the Buffalo Lanes or The Buff.

The event will feature door prizes and a silent auction, and trophies will be awarded for the best dressed redneck style team and redneck individual. Team and individual trophies will also be presented for First, Second, Third and Last Place.

Brown had double bypass surgery, seven stent placements and is currently living with multiple blockages. Brown joined Let’s Talk About It on The Lunch Rush with Brian Willhide on Thursday to discuss WomenHeart and the inaugural Jamestown event.

All proceeds from the event benefit WomenHeart and the American Heart Association.
