Puhr, age 93, of Fingal, ND, died Thursday, November 1st at her residence near Fingal, ND.  A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 7th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fingal.  Visitation will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fingal on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and one hour before the service on Wednesday morning.  A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday evening at the church.  Interment will be in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, Fingal, ND.

            Esther Mary Schlegel, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Sherman) Schlegel, was born March 3, 1919 near Oriska, ND.  Esther grew up and attended rural school in the Oriska area.  After receiving her education, Esther worked doing various jobs and was a housekeeper for families near Oriska.  She later moved to the Jamestown, ND area where she worked at Trinity Hospital.  On October 20, 1948 she married Albert Puhr in Fingal, ND.  The couple lived and farmed near Fingal until Albert’s death on September 28, 1964.  Esther continued to live on the family farm until 2000 when she moved to Cooperstown, ND.  In August, 2012 she moved back to the Fingal, ND area.  Esther was a very active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fingal.  Esther loved to garden and to take care of her flowers.

            Esther is survived by her two children, Joseph Puhr, Cooperstown, ND and Nobert “Norby” (Kathy) Puhr, Fingal, ND; five grandchildren, Danielle Olson, Josie Olson, Emily Puhr, Jessica Puhr and Lucus Puhr, all Fingal, ND; four brothers, Clarence (Fern) Schlegel, Bismarck, ND, Alex (Jean) Schlegel, Valley City, ND, Nobert (Joy) Schlegel, Bowdon, ND  and Herbert (Bonnie) Schlegel, Fargo, ND; three sisters, Betty (Ordean) Swenson, Moorhead, MN, Eleanor Kemmer, Enderlin, ND and Mary (Herman) Morth, Fergus Falls, MN; one sister-in-law, Margaret Schmidt, Alice, ND.

            Esther was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers and one sister.
