N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – When Napoleon Public School Superintendent Elroy Burkle took the position five years ago, the school’s K-12 enrollment was at 240 students. It now stands at 265.
While that may not seem like a lot for this Logan County town of about 800, Burkle said he has witnessed an average increase of almost three students per grade the last couple of school years, putting a heavy burden on several teachers throughout the building.
Burkle believes North Dakota’s booming economy statewide has directly impacted small towns throughout the state such as Napoleon.
The superintendent personally believes it’s necessary to add another staff member and says a building expansion could be necessary as well. However, a November meeting must first be held to speak with staff about their concerns, and Burkle says it’s also important to inform the community about the current state of Napoleon Public School.
