(NewsDakota.com) After being with the district for 30 years, and in the field of education for 43 years, the Superintendent of the Oakes Public School will be stepping down at the end of the school year.

Art Conklin officially submitted his letter of resignation, effective June 30 2013, to the Oakes School Board during their regular monthly meeting. Conklin, who is the longest serving superintendent in the history of the district, says he’s grateful to the community, and will take away great memories from his time with the district.

Conklin graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Math, and later earned his Master’s Degree in School Administration before coming to Oakes. The Board, which accepted the resignation letter, will now be charged with forming a search committee later in the school year.
