CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) An advisory vote to extend the Valley City’s 1 percent sales tax for economic development and property tax relief has been thrown into the November 6 election.

Valley City auditor Avis Richter said absentee advisory voting slips are available at city hall. Richter said the advisory voting slips will be at your regular precincts on election day.

70 percent of the 1 percent Valley City sales tax goes toward economic development, 25 percent for property tax relief and 5 percent for service and retail image enhancement.

Valley City Barnes County Economic Development Director Jennifer Feist will hold a public meeting at the Hi Liner Activity Center Monday, October 29 from 5pm to 6pm.

Feist said the meeting will focus on the city sales tax renewal & economic development on the Interstate 94 project as well as other tentative developments.
