CITY (NewsDakota.com) – The long-standing rivalry between Valley City State and Jamestown College is renewed Saturday with another meeting for the traveling Paint Bucket Trophy.

The Viking and Jimmie football teams clash at 1 p.m. at Shelly Ellig Field in Valley City. The Vikings knocked off Jamestown College 13-10 in the first meeting this season between the two teams.

Valley City State head coach Dennis McCulloch says that likely means Jamestown will enter Saturday’s game feeling they’ll have something to prove.

Jamestown College is coming off an 8-7 loss to Dickinson State in which the Blue Hawks scored a touchdown with 14 seconds left and went for the two-point conversion to win the game. The Jimmies are 2-5 on the season.

Valley City State is 5-2 and coming off a shutout win, 16-0, over Gustavus Adolphus last Saturday.

Saturday’s game can be heard throughout the Dakota Country Radio Network. Steve Linzmeier will have the call for Jamestown College on KQDJ 1400-AM and 97.1 FM. Mark Potts will have the play-by-play for VCSU on KOVC 1490, KDDR 1220, and KDAK 1600.
