CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Construction work on Barnes County Road 21 north of Valley City has been delayed. Work on the project is expected to be completed by the end of October weather permitting.

The contractor, Strata Corporation has been working on a 100 yard stretch of hill under County road 21 building up the road that was sliding several feet below.

Barnes County Highway Department Supervisor Kerry Johnson said the contractor will be facing liquidated damages for every day after October 20 for the construction delay. Johnson says the project is estimated to be completed before or after October 27.
