(Jamestown College Sports Information)- Jamestown College head women’s basketball coach Greg Ulland announces Paige Emmel of Bismarck has verbally committed to play for the Jimmies beginning in 2013.

Emmel, a five-foot-six guard for Shiloh Christian, averaged 16.6 points per game last season for the Skyhawks, leading the team to a fourth-place finish at the State Class B Tournament and a season record of 20-8. She played with Westcon Dakota Heat during the club season. Emmel is the third player from the North Dakota 2013 class to verbally commit to Jamestown College.

“I chose Jamestown College because of their strong commitment to excellence, the small private school atmosphere, and the importance of family structure in the program, along with the student-instructor ratio and the opportunity to play basketball,” Emmel says.

“We are very excited for Paige to be joining the Jimmie family,” Ulland says. “Leading her team from two wins a couple years ago to the state tourney last year is a great accomplishment and shows the type of leadership and character she has. She possesses deep three-point range and can score in a variety of ways. Most of all, we got a student-athlete of great character – she is the type of person anyone would want to coach and is an absolute pleasure to be around. She is a great addition to not only our basketball program, but also to Jamestown College.”

Emmel is also active in volleyball, track and Student Council. She is the daughter of Mike and Camey Emmel.
