(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes Community Hospital has been awarded a grant to assist in the fight against violence in the community.
The $13,474 grant will go to support a Violence Prevention Steering Committee in their efforts to create a program to examine the causes of violence, as well as attempting to implement policies in order to reduce the number of cases that occur every year.
The Mission and Ministry Fund Of Catholic Heath Initiatives provided the grant, which has given almost 350 grants worth more than $41.6 million.
The first committee meeting is planed for Wednesday October 10 at Cline’s Cafe in Oakes. Interested parties in attending the lunch meeting are asked to contact Kim Schmit at 742-3854.
