(NewsDakota.com)- The Jamestown girls golf didn’t get its next state champion, quite yet. Sierra Bennion finished fourth yesterday at Prairie West Golf Course in Mandan. But the future remains bright for the JHS freshman.
Bennion fired a second round 81, following an opening-day 79 that put her in third. It forced a fourth place tie with Kayla Barke of Williston. Bennion got her first varsity win at Prairie West back on September 11th.
The story of the day was the round by Dickinson golfer Rachel Jahner who came out to shoot a 72 and force extra holes against day one leader North’s Annie Twells.
Twells would win the three-hole playoff to capture the state title. Fargo Davies won the team title. Jamestown came in 9th, junior Maria LeFevre was the only other Jay to break 200 with a 187.
Other scores for Jamestown: Sarah Azure (216), Kaitlin Mullowney (222), Savannah Kramlich (223) and Mara LeFevre (256).
