CITY (NewsDakota.com) – The Vikings and Jimmies were both represented this week by an A.I.I. Athlete of the Week.

Jamestown College volleyball player Sarah Becker was named the Association of Independent Institutions Female Athlete of the Week after leading the Jimmies to a 2-0 record last week. Becker, a 6-foot-1 junior from Rochester, Minn., finished the week with 23 kills, a 62.9 percent attack rate and eight blocks. It was her second straight A.I.I. weekly honor. Jamestown is now 15-3 on the season.

Valley City State football player Derek Elliott was named the Male Athlete of the Week after a huge game in a 39-28 loss to South Dakota School of Mines. Elliott, a junior running back and receiver, had 219 yards of offense and three touchdowns in the loss. He rushed for 114 yards on seven carries and caught six passes for 105 yards. Valley City State is now 3-2 on the season.
