(NewsDakota.com) The Cardinals were in action at Stadium 76 Friday night (Sept. 28) against Minot Bishop Ryan. The Loins are the number four team in Division AA in North Dakota. It was a hard fought battle, but Carrington came up short, 28-14. The Cardinals drop to 3-2-1, Bishop Ryan improves to 5-1.
Neither team scored in the first quarter, in the second it was a different story. Both teams scored twice. Bishop Ryan scored first on a three yard touchdown run by Chase Fugere. Then the Cardinals scored on a five yard run by Austin Schuldheisz. Late in the second quarter, Minot’s Brody Bosch passed to Jake Magnuson for a 52-yard touchdown pass, making it 14-7 Lions. But Carrington came right back with a touchdown of their own, Taylor Skytland took it 88 yards off a kick return tying it up at 14 apiece at the half.
In the second half, it was all Bishop Ryan, scoring twice off a run and a pass. Fugere scored his second touchdown of the game and Eggl passed it to Magnuson from six yards out making it 28-14 the final.
Next up for the Cards is Friday night Oct. 5th in Bottineau. That game will be heard on AM 1600 KDAK in Carrington starting at 6:30p.
