N.D. (NewsDakota.com) A 20 year old Durbin man faces a charge of driving under the influence after he totaled his car crossing the Maple River in rural Cass County on Sunday evening.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says Rodolfo Rodriguez III was northbound on Cass County Road 9 around 5:30 p.m., crossing the Maple River Bridge near County Road 6 when he lost control of his vehicle, struck the east guardrail on the bridge, and then rolled on the roadway; coming to rest on the east shoulder of County Road 6.
Rodriguez’s passenger, 19 year old Michael Robert Foley of Fargo was ejected from the vehicle and lifeflighted to a Fargo hospital; neither man was wearing a seatbelt.
After the crash, Rodriguez fled the scene on foot but was caught around 9 p.m. about a mile from the scene by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.
