CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Work on a river bank stabilization project in Valley City will start next month.

Barnes County Soil Conservation District spokeswoman Lori Frank says the 350-foot river bank restoration project will start near the city park bridge and run back toward 2nd street southwest.

The contractor “Star Enterprise” will place rock, timber and other material to prevent further river bank erosion near the Elks building along the Sheyenne River.

60 percent of the $280,000 project will be paid for through an E-P-A grant. The city’s share is slightly more than $6,000 with two property owners picking up the remaining portion of the cost.
