(NewsDakota.com)- Jamestown had won nine sets in a row heading into Tuesday night’s match up with Mandan. Nothing changed as they flexed their muscles to take down the Braves in straight sets, 3-0 (25-20, 27-25, 25-22).
All three sets had their own identity. In the first set, the Jays couldn’t seem to sustain any momentum. They would take a three or four point lead before allowing the Braves to pull it closer. Jamestown finally pulled away at the end to put away Mandan, 25-20.
The second set provided enough drama for the entire night. Jamestown came out flat and trailed for the onset, eventually falling behind 24-16. They were faced with eight set points, but with Rebekah Horgan at the service line and Siri Jystad dominating at the net the Jays rallied.
Jamestown staved off nine total set points in the second before finally winning it 27-25.
The Blue Jays were poised to run away with the third set leading by 11 at the midway point, but Mandan responded. They closed the gap to two at 24-22 when Jamestown grabbed the final point.
The win moved the Jays record to 14-5. Jamestown hits the road to Minot on Friday.
