CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–The 2012 Hi-Liner Hall of Fame class has been announced by Valley City High School.

Valley City High School will induct seven individuals and one team into the Hi-Liner Hall of Fame this week, part of the Homecoming festivities at the school.

The 1971 girls golf team will be inducted, winning a state title under coach Roger Merganthal.  Ann (Ertelt) Scott, a 1972 graduate who will be inducted individually, was the state medalist, and she teamed with Sandy Schindler for the doubles title.  Paulette Anderson, Connie Huber, and Pandy Kupitz round out the team.

Ertelt-Scott was a singles golf runner-up in 1970, leading the Hi-Liners to a state title.  She also won the doubles that season, before winning both in 1971 en route to the Hi-Liners repeating as state champs.  She also participated on the state champion track team in 1972.

Danni (Dew) Rowekamp, 1991 graduate was an all-conference and all-state performer in cross-country and volleyball, and won a state title in the 3200-meter relay in track.  She went on to set the VCSU record in the 5000-meter run, a record that still stands at the university.

Mike Fitzner, a 1992 graduate, was an all-conference performer in football, basketball, and golf, and all-state in basketball, going on to be a three-year starter at Wayne State College.

Travis Bjerke, a 1993 graduate, was all-conference and all-state in both football and basketball, and went on to earn all-conference and an honorable mention for All-American honors in football at the University of Minnesota-Crookston.

Andy Zaun, a 1996 graduate, was an all-conference and all-state football player, and became a three-year starter for UND after high school.  He also won the state title in javelin during his track career.

Natalie (Birchem) Portratz, a 1997 graduate, was an all-conference basketball and gymnast for the Hi-Liners, and continued her basketball career at the University of Mary and Valley City State University.

Tricia Schilling, a 1997 graduate, was an all-conference and all-state volleyball selection, becoming a four-year starter at Northern State University.  She holds the NSU career assists record, and appears in the top 10 in numerous statistical categories, and was an all-conference selection for the Wolves in 2000.  She was also and all-conference and Lions All-Star selection in basketball, and a four-year state qualifier in track.

The inductees will be recognized during the homecoming parade Friday afternoon, then again at the football game with Lisbon Friday night at Hanna Field.
