CITY (NewsDakota.com)–The Viking volleyball team finished 1-3 at the Association of Independent Institutions (AII) Jamboree in Madison, SD, this past weekend.
Their win came Friday, as they swept the host team, Dakota State 3-0 (29-27, 25-20, 25-21). Jill Noeske (Sr., Valley City, ND) had 15 kills, with Aurissa Martens (Jr., Manitou, MB) adding 11 and Tarafa (Jr., Winnemucca, NV) knocking down nine, hitting .471 for the match.
The first match Friday saw Jamestown College sweep the Vikings 3-0 (25-23, 25-11, 25-23). The Vikings hit just .011 as a team, with Noeske leading the team, scoring eight kills.
Ashford, IA defeated the Vikings 3-1 (25-17, 25-18, 21-25, 25-18) Saturday. Ally Theroux (So., Cold Lake, AB) had 12 kills for the Vikings, with Noeske and Kaitlyn Heuring (So., Winnipeg, MB) each adding 10.
That match was followed by a 3-0 (25-13, 25-21, 25-14) sweep of the Vikings by South Dakota Mines. Noeske had seven kills to once again lead the team.
The Vikings are now 5-15, and play at Minot State University Tuesday night.
