(NewsDakota.com) Two members of the Ellendale City Council have resigned effective Saturday September 15, and the Council is now seeking individuals interested in filling the seats.

Gene Williams and Craig Martin announced their resignations at this month’s Council meeting. Williams plans to move out of state for six months, and Martin now lives outside the city limits.

In response, the Council voted unaminously to wait until the end of September to allow those wishing to serve the opportunity to apply for a petition to request a special election. If no one steps forward, the Council can choose to make appointments to fill the open seats until the next city election.

Anyone interested in serving are asked to contact Ellendale’s Mayor Don Flaherty as well as City Auditor Candy Middlestead on how to proceed.
