CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) North Dakota is opting out of the federal “No Child Left Behind” education law.

More than two dozen states have received waivers being they meet certain requirements including developing alternative standards that meet federal approval. Valley City Public School Superintendent Dean Koppelman.

Koppelman said the state Department of Public Instruction is working on setting up the states alternative standards for the 2013-2014 school year.
