(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes Public School Board held their regular monthly meeting for the month of September Tuesday afternoon.

Among the topics discussed was the safety inspections of the school buses recently completed by the North Dakota Highway Patrol; in which the buses for the district all passed. The “Tornado Taxi”, which the school uses as a charter coach to transport the athletic teams, will be inspected by a Bismarck company later this school year.

All asbestos has been removed from the high school and elementary school, however some remains in the floorboards of the vocational center, according to Superintendent Art Conkilin. The process is carried out by an independent contractor every five years.

Snow removal bids are currently being accepted, and will continue to be accepted until roughly the end of October. The new bleachers have been added to the south gymnasium, and the locker rooms on the north end of campus still needs about 40 items, according to Conklin, than need to be attended to; however they are small in nature.

The next school board meeting is set for October 11 at 6 p.m.
