Friskop, 74, of Milnor, ND, passed away September 8, 2012, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN, under the care of Riveredge Hospice.
Gerald Allen Friskop, son of George and Gena (Beitland) Friskop was born February 7, 1938 on the family farm near DeLamere, North Dakota, where he grew up and attended country school. Jerry was baptized, confirmed, and married at Immanuel Lutheran Church. After his schooling, he farmed with his father, George and brother, Frank. Jerry continued to farm his entire life until retiring in 2002. He was united in marriage to Shyrlee Hindt on June 4, 1961. They made their home on the farm, where together they raised four children, Tammy, George, Randy, and Jodi.
Jerry was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council, and was on the cemetery association board for many years. He was very active with the Democratic Party and was the chairman of the Style Show during the Wyndmere Crop Show for 25 plus years. Jerry enjoyed spending time and visiting with family and friends, having coffee in town, making trips to the casino, playing cards and league bowling. Attending Lutefisk suppers was possibly Jerry’s favorite pastime.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Joy, and anyone else who helped them get through this journey these last few months.
He is survived by his wife, Shyrlee; four children, Tammy (Tim) Anderson, Colfax, ND, George Friskop, Milnor, ND, Randy Friskop, Wyndmere, ND, and Jodi (Ben) Albaugh, Thompson, ND; two grandchildren, Ashley and Todd Anderson; two sisters, Arlene (Duane) Lillestol, Wyndmere, ND, and Jackie (Al) Krieger, Fargo, ND; and several nieces and nephews.
