(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School volleyball team had quite the successful Saturday as they competed in the Central Cass Tournament in Casselton.

Oakes won all their contests in pool play; defeating Thompson 25-16 and 25-20, Hettinger 25-23 and 25-15, Barnes County North 25-16 and 25-7 and Des Lacs Burlington 25-17 and 25-15 to advance to the Gold Division Tournament.

In the Gold Division Tournament, Oakes lost their opening match to Minot Our Redeemers 26-24, 12-25, 13-15, but came back and took third after taking down Park River 25-18 25-18.

“We played with confidence, and had aggressive attacks from the net and the serving line.” said Oakes Head Coach Kathy Warren. “Defensively, we played so though that teams had a hard time finding an open spot.”

Oakes now heads to LaMoure on Tuesday evening to battle the Loboes. Coverage on KDDR 1220 AM/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starts around 7:15 with Bruce Junker. First serve of game one of the match will commence around 7:30.
