(NewsDakota.com) – The murder trial of a 34-year-old Jamestown man continued into its fifth day Monday in the Southeast District Court.
Howard is charged with murder and criminal conspiracy in the April 2011 death of 18-year-old Abdi Ali Ahmed. He had severe head injuries and had been stabbed in the torso.
On Monday, 23-year-old Janelle Cave, who was earlier convicted of manslaughter in February in the death of Ahmed, testified that she had sold marijuana to Ahmed in the past. Cave denied that Ahmed owed her any money at the time of his death.
She also testified Monday that Howard struck Ahmed and knocked him unconscious outside of her Jamestown home.
Later in the day, the jury heard testimony regarding information recovered from a phone that allegedly belonged to Howard.
Judge Thomas E. Merrick said Monday afternoon that Tuesday could possibly be the last day of testimony in the case. Howard is expected to take the stand at some point to tell his version of the events surrounding Ahmed’s death.
