(NewsDakota.com) – Interest is high statewide in a possible November ballot measure that would ban smoking in the workplace, and it’s no different locally where the issue will be a hot topic leading up to November.

Robin Iszler with Central Valley Health District in Jamestown says a 2010 survey in Jamestown revealed that 75 percent of people would like to see the state expand its smoking ban to include all workplaces, including bars and lounges. Most of the bars in Jamestown currently allow smoking.

Iszler says in Jamestown there has not been a big push for a local ordinance banning smoking in the workplace, but says there has been some changes in smaller ways.

Iszler says Central Valley Health prefers that the expansion of a smoking ban come from a state ordinance.
