(NewsDakota.com)- Last season ended a little abruptly for the Jamestown College volleyball team. They led 13-8 in the final set of a National qualifying match before they gave up 7-straight points and lost 15-13 in the decisive fifth set.
Head Coach Jon Hegerle said thats something a lot of the girls still think about, “I think its in the front of their mind. I know our returning players have talked a lot about it, making sure we do it right this time.”
The Jimmies return some key members of that team from a year ago, Katie Zent and Amber Becker probably the two most prominent. Zent was the DAC player of the year and Becker was the AII player of the year and was named to the honorable mention All-American team.
They finished 23-14 last season. Of course with the DAC getting disbanded officially this summer, the Jimmies are faced with a bit of a scheduling issue. They have just six home games in 2012.
Their first home game will be September 5th and it will broadcasted on KQDJ-AM 1400. This weekend they will be in Valley City to match up with Waldorf College and the Vikings.
The game with Valley City St. starts at 4pm and will also be broadcasted on KQDJ.
Coach Jon Hegerle joined the “AM Update” this morning to talk about the upcoming season. You can hear the audio below.
