(NewsDakota.com)- Four members of the Jamestown Post 14 legion baseball team were recognized last week at their end of the season banquet for their play.
It was no surprise to see Post 14 vets Brady Anderson, Danny Fischer, and Kasey Gengler take home three of the four awards, those three were all integral parts of the program over the last few seasons.
Anderson took home the award as the team’s top-hitter after finishing the summer with a .394 average, 4 home-runs and 29 RBIs. Fischer was the team top-pitcher with a record of 4-1 and an ERA of 1.47.
Gengler was given the “Post 14 Award” for his all around contributions including being what Head Coach Shane Schoeneberg called, “a coach on the field.”
The last award was for the teams most improved player and Joey Gebhardt took home that hardware. Gebhardt was not only a mainstay behind the plate, but also pitched some of the seasons most impressive outings. He went the distance in their 2-1 win over Dickinson, a team with an impressive line-up that is one win away from the Central Plains Regional Championship series, in the State Tournament.
Jamestown finished their season 16-18 after losing in walk-off fashion to Minot at state. Post 14 will return almost everyone next summer with the exceptions of Gengler and Fischer.
