funeral service for Gloria E. Adams, 86, West Fargo, North Dakota, formerly of Valley City, North Dakota will be 2 pm Thursday, August 16, 2012, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Valley City. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Valley City. She died Saturday, August 11, at Eventide in Moorhead, Minnesota.
Visitation will be 4 – 7 pm Wednesday at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City and one hour before the service at the church.
Gloria Heglie was born June 12,1926 at her family home in Richland County, ND the daughter of Ole and Lena (Olson) Heglie. She attended school in Christine, ND and graduated from Christine High School. She attended Mayville State and Valley City State and earned her teaching degree. She taught in rural schools in ND and in Valley City for several years. She was united in marriage to Walter Ellison August 11, 1950 and he passed away in 1957. She married Harvey Adams December 14, 1962 and he passed away in 2001.
She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Valley City as well as the Sons Of Norway. Her faith and family were her greatest joys. She enjoyed cooking, baking, bird watching, spending time with her grandchildren and great and great-great grandchildren. She had a great sense of spirit and humor, and thoroughly enjoyed her time in the coffee shop at Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo where met and made many new friends and cherished her old friends.
Gloria is survived by her daughter Julie (Del) McCoy, of Fargo, North Dakota and Barry Ellison of Fargo, North Dakota; 8 grandchildren Randy McCoy, Tracy Stark, Rick(Wendy) McCoy, Tiffaney (Jeff) Wiedeman, Chad McCoy, Megan(DJ) Theisen, Tara(Dave) Razink, and Hilary Ellison, 12 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Dorothy Heglie of Fargo, ND and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Dakota Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 5990 14th St S, Fargo, ND 58103 or the Great Plains Food Bank of ND 1720 3rd Ave. N, Fargo, ND 58102.
