N.D. (NDSU) North Dakota State University’s Carrington Research Extension Center is hosting a compost demonstration day on Thursday, Aug. 23.

The event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and include presentations and
demonstrations. Topics and presenters for the event are:

* Mortality disposal options and composting – Shafiqur Rahman, assistant
professor, NDSU Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Department

* Composting site selection – Jeremiah Lang, environmental engineer, North
Dakota Department of Health, Division of Water Quality

* Compost fertility management – Chris Augustin, area Extension soil health
specialist, NDSU North Central Research Extension Center, Minot

* Approved carcass disposal options in North Dakota – Susan Keller, state
veterinarian

Also, Carrington Research Extension Center faculty and Wells County Soil
Conservation District representatives will provide a compost turner
demonstration.

This event is free, but registration is required. The registration deadline is
