(NewsDakota.com) – Officials broke ground on a new Jamestown hotel during a ceremony Friday morning.

Officials say the new Hampton Inn and Suites will have 90 guest rooms, a pool and meeting spaces. Construction on the project should be completed by April, 2012.

Jamestown mayor Katie Anderson says the additional rooms will help the city immensely in regards to hosting events.

Anderson says the oil boom spilling eastward, and travel to and from the oil boom, has helped to create great business for local hotels.

The Hampton Inn and Suites will be located just south of Grizzly’s. Work has been ongoing for about one month. Officials on Friday described Hampton as the fastest growing hotel franchise in the nation.
