CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) More than 200 riders participated in the annual Debbie Gabel Memorial Motorcycle Ride in Valley City on Saturday. Viking cheerleaders helped raise money for the event and also sold their annual calendars.

A raffle and silent auction to benefit Hospice of the Red River Valley was held Saturday at the VFW Club in Valley City. Event coordinator Rocky Gabel of the Thundering Saints Foundation says about $60,000 was raised during the event, of that nearly $52,000 was raised from the bike raffle on Saturday.

The Stutsman Harley Davidson “2012 Harley Davidson Classic Motorcycle” drawing winner was Sharon Schmidt of Fargo.

Terry Roberg of Litchville won the 32” Flat Screen T.V. from Appliance City & the Shack. Don Gussaas of Litchville won a $300 gas card from Dakota Plains Cooperative. And Jeff Chnielewski of Foley, Minnesota won a $300 beef bundle from Valley Meat Supply.

Rocky Gabel started the event to raise money and awareness for cancer and Hospice of the Red River Valley after his wife Debbie passed away suffering from ovarian cancer.
