(NewsDakota.com) The Valley City Post 60 American Legion baseball team needed more than just a run down the stretch in their contest with Harwood on Friday night if they wanted a shot at the Section 1 title.
Post 60 was able to drive in five runs in the sixth inning after trailing 3-1, and Jaden Keys picked up the save, as Valley City defeated Harwood 6-3 and punch a ticket to the Championship round on Saturday afternoon.
Josh Gilbertson earned the win for VC, going six innings, allowing three runs on five hits, while walking seven and striking out four. Spencer Meyer had the best game offensively for Post 60 with two hits and a run scored.
Valley City plays Wapheton tomorrow in the Championship round with first pitch at 1 p.m. Post 60 must win to force a winner-take-all game two. Coverage can be heard on Q101.1 FM and NewsDakota.com
