(NewsDakota.com) The Carrington Babe Ruth Baseball Team will be traveling to Casselton on August 3rd for the State Class B Babe Ruth Baseball Tournament. Coach Kyle Smith says the team they will be playing has yet to be determined but they will play at 10a on August 3rd. Some of the teams that they could face include Kindred or Valley City. Coach Smith said that they met Kindred earlier in the year and lost to them 5-4 in a hard fought battle. This is the first time in 20 years that the Babe Ruth team has made it to the State Tourney. Patrick Freeman will be the starting pitcher for the opening round match-up on that Friday.
Carrington beat Harvey in the Region semi’s 6-2, and 4-2 in the championship to advance to the state tourney. They are 25-10 on the season.
The State Tournament will be double elimination as all 8 teams will be guaranteed 2 games.
CORRECTION: Coach Smith will be live on 1600 KDAK in Carrington on Wednesday, August 1st at 8:15am (instead of 9:15a) to talk about the tourney.
