FORKS, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Much of eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota are in a severe drought. Climate forecaster Mark Ewens with the National Weather Service says his research seems to indicate the region is NOT done with the wet cycle yet.

Ewens doesn’t see an end to the current dry phase of the wet cycle for the next 12 to 18 months. However, he says there’s a glimmer of hope. The pacific ocean’s La Nina weather pattern has shifted to El Nino which historically has meant big storms in the fall.
