(NewsDakota.com)- Former Jamestown Blue Jay Darin Erstad will be inducted into the North Dakota Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday in Jamestown, along with legendary Hillsboro boy’s basketball coach Ed Beyer and two-time World Series Champion from Lakota, Rick Helling.

Erstad is now the head baseball coach at Nebraska, his alma mater where he was the Golden Spike Winner as college baseball’s top player and selected No. 1 overall by the California Angels in 1995.

He went on to become a 2-time All-Star, 3-time Gold Glove winner, and 2002 World Champion with the Angels. Erstad finished his career with the White Sox and Astros.

Erstad joined Steve Linzmeier this morning on KQDJ-AM 1400’s “AM Update” to discuss his inclusion in the North Dakota Sports Hall of Fame.
