(NewsDakota.com) – An accidental kitchen fire caused the evacuation of an apartment building in northeast Jamestown on Tuesday morning.
Jamestown Fire Chief Jim Reuther says the fire was contained to just a single unit in the apartment building at 1014 16th Street Northeast.
The fire was reported about 10:15 a.m. Tuesday. Six units and 28 firefighters responded to the scene. No injuries were reported. Reuther estimates fire and smoke damage to the unit might be between $5,000 and $7,000. The Buffalo Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the tenant of the damaged unit.
All other tenants were being allowed back into the building by Tuesday afternoon.
