CITY (NewsDakota.com)–Work has moved to road construction on the North Valley Bridge north of Valley City.
The new bridge, equipped with a walking area and railing, has been constructed. Workers are now Laing the earth work for the new roadway.
The bridge will replace one that was inundated with water during the 2009 and 2011 floods the Sheyenne River Valley. The bridge services about 1000 cars a day. Its closure in those years caused problems for many residents that live north of the city, but work or do business in Valley City.
The new bridge is higher that the current structure, and is also slightly east off the current bridge, necessitating the road work. Motorists are delayed for short periods during the work.
