was born to Maynard and Hazel (Swenson) Longbella on June 20, 1939 in Britton, South Dakota. She grew up and attended school in Gwinner, North Dakota. After her schooling, she was united in marriage to Duane Gemar on January 22, 1956. They lived and farmed in the Crete, North Dakota community. In the 1960’s, Pat was the proverial Avon lady. She was also employed for Shafer Seed Company for close to 30 years. She enjoyed the work and loved her many friends who worked with her. Pat loved the piano and gave lessons to several of the local children. She also played for Immanuel Lutheran Church near Stirum, North Dakota for many years. Her favorite hobbies were knitting and crocheting. Pat was very proud of her beautiful handwriting, and worked very hard to become a left hander when a fall and severe infection disabled her right hand. She was also a breast cancer survivor.
She passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on June 2, 2012, having reached the age of 72.
Pat is survived by her husband Duane; three sons, Dennis Gemar, Mark Gemar, and Todd Gemar; a daughter, Cindi Glander; five grandchildren; three special grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, all whom she loved very much.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Jack.
A Prayer Service will be held on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes, ND.
Her Memorial Service will be Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Gwinner, ND.
