CITY (Newsdakota.com)–The defending and multiple-time state champions sent the Hi-Liner softball team to the qualifying round Friday.

West Fargo used a walkoff grand slam by Harley Andel to earn a 10-0 win in the east region semifinals, sending Valley City to a Saturday morning date with Devils Lake.

The Hi-Liners struck out 12 times and managed just two runners on the day against the Packers, who have won the last 15 state titles.

Tomorrow’s game with the Firebirds will be for a spot in the state tournament next week in West Fargo. The Hi-Liners have won two matchups with Devils Lake this season.

Game time is set for 11:00 a.m.
