CITY (NewsDakota.com) As scores of people turned out to attend the 175 anniversary of John Deere last Saturday, the John Deere Seeding Group of Valley City wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts of Robert Beyer who flew to Illinois to get company executives to look at a potential site.

His wife Elaine told the city commission about her late husband’s persistence in getting the manufacturing plant to Valley City back in the spring of 1997.

The John Deere Seeding Group of Valley City employees nearly 300 people in the area.
