(NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Regional Airport Authority plans to send representatives to Washington, D.C., in June to meet with officials regarding decreased boardings in Jamestown.
Since Great Lakes Airlines took over for Delta in March as air service provider in Jamestown, boardings have drastically decreased, including less than 200 boardings in April. Boardings had reached a record high of almost 800 boardings in February before the changeover.
Jamestown has two flights to Minneapolis and one to Williston each day.
Airport Authority chairman Jim Boyd says the main issue leading to decreased boardings is non-competitive fairs since the changeover. The meeting in Washington would include North Dakota’s U.S. congressmen, and representatives from both Delta and Great Lakes.
Delta and Great Lakes have a connecting agreement where passengers can book flights through Delta and transfer to Delta planes in Minneapolis, but those ticket prices are often more expensive than booking separate flights through Great Lakes and a different carrier flying out of Minneapolis.
