CITY (NewsDakota.com)–With the high school tennis season coming to a close, the Hi-Liners had their annual post-season warm-up with Jamestown Monday, dropping a 4-1 decision to the Blue Jays.
The match employs a 3-2 lineup, meaning three singles matches and two doubles matches, with no player allowed to play both singles and doubles. It is the format used by the Eastern Dakota Conference (EDC) and Western Dakota Association (WDA) in the regional tournaments. The normal regular season uses a 6-3 lineup, with players allowed to play both singles and doubles.
The lineup will not be made public to allow the coaches to bring their lineup to regionals unknown.
The Hi-Liner junior varsity girls had an outstanding day, sweeping all of their matches with Fargo South. Sixteen players played matches, all with no losses.
Valley City faces West Fargo at the EDC regional in Grand Forks Thursday.
