CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–The Hi-Liner boys golf team placed sixth overall, fourth among Eastern Dakota Conference (EDC) teams during the East-West Crossover at Bois de Sioux Golf Course in Wahpeton.

The event was a two-day competition, following state meet conditions, played Friday and Saturday.  All 19 Class “A” teams attended.

The Hi-Liners shot a two-day team 650, finishing behind West Fargo, Wahpeton and Fargo Shanley from the EDC, and Bismarck High and Bismarck Century among Western Dakota Association (WDA) teams.  The fourth-place finish among EDC competition is key, with the teams continuing to jockey for position among the six teams that will advance to the state meet in June.

Valley City’s 650 was only three shots behind Wahepton, nine behind Bismarck High and 10 behind Century.  The Hi-Liners were 10 shots ahead of Fargo Davies.

Ben Sorenson had a solid performance, leading the team with a two-day 157, including a team-leading 76 on day two.  Nick Jenson led the team on day one with an 80, and finished with a 78 for a 158.

Tyler Stevens shot a 167, and Jared Lentz rounded out the Hi-Liner scoring with a 171.  Marcus Beedle shot a 174, and Dustin Miller turned in a 178.

West Fargo won the meet with a 601.  Shanley shot a 615, with both teams comfortably ahead of the field and emerging as the front-runners for the state title.

The Hi-Liners have the week off, and golf again Monday, May 21st, again at Bois de Sioux in Wahpeton, this time at a full EDC meet.
