N.D. (AP) – A former Jamestown teacher who’s accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl was sentenced to 60 days in jail as part of a deal with prosecutors. Richard Laqua pleaded guilty to luring a minor. He was a teacher at the James Valley Career and Technology Center.

LEEDS, N.D. (AP) – A public school in the northeastern North Dakota town of Leeds will no longer use a “time out” room after parents complained. Administrators say the small room was a safe place for unruly students, but some parents say the room amounted to a locked closet. The county sheriff says there was nothing wrong with the practice, but school officials say they’re stopped using the room and removed its door.
