(NewsDakota.com) – A 20-year-old Jamestown man was sentenced to two years in prison last week after pleading guilty to two counts of simple assault in Stutsman County District Court.

Justin Roy Poitra pleaded guilty to simple assault charges from incidents on April 25, 2011 and July 25, 2011. Both are Class C felonies.

Judge John Greenwood sentenced Poitra to two years with the Department of Corrections for each count. The sentences will run concurrent with each other and a sentence Poitra was already serving for a previous misdemeanor assault conviction.

Poitra is also required to pay about $1,900 in fees and restitution, and will be on supervised probation until 2016.
