(NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County Commission heard about problems at the old historic Stutsman County Courthouse, now a state facility in the hands of the state historical society.
County auditor Casey Bradley says after officials toured the courthouse this month, the state has submitted a work plan to the county to resolve issues at the site, which include air quality, mold, fire hazards and general maintenance.
Because of budget issues, Bradley says the state cannot guarantee the work be done right away.
The old courthouse is adjacent to the new courthouse and the Law Enforcement Center. Bradley says the county should wait to see if some of the issues are resolved this summer before moving complaints above the state historical society.
The old Stutsman County Courthouse is the oldest surviving courthouse in North Dakota and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
